Welcome to my blog! This is me, Brandi, introducing myself to the world as the designer behind B. Marie Designs. Possibly one of the most scary and exciting things I’ve ever taken on. I’ve loved design for as long as I can remember. It never clicked in my head that I could actually create a freelance business around it. That is, until last July when I said, “why the heck not?” and began to put things in motion, slowly but surely.
Since I was a kid I loved to draw, write and participate in anything that was creative. I joined the yearbook in 8th grade and I remember putting together collages with actual scissors and glue, and loving it. I decided to continue this in high school where I was a part of the yearbook staff and ending up being the Editor senior year. That was when I was first introduced to InDesign and Photoshop.
This hunger for creating carried over into college as I continued to teach myself Photoshop and InDesign, later Illustrator. This helped greatly when I went to work for a photography studio designing marketing materials, social banners, albums and business collateral.
Now I’m working on freelance projects whenever and wherever I can.
Things you should know about me:
I love drinking coffee. There is not such thing as “just one cup.”
I read too much. As if that is a thing. I’m pushing 250+ books in my room… I guess you can say I’m a bookworm. This is very true.
I love my pup Milo. Sometimes I think he thinks that he is a “real boy.” Perfectly content for me to walk around with him in my arms. He loves to snuggle, and I don’t mind one bit.
Writing is my passion (aside from design). Imagining stories and putting them to paper (or to the screen?) is a passion that I love.
I interned in New York City. Yep, I was the online marketing intern for Harper Collins publishers! It was the most amazing summer of my life.
I love traveling! I’ve been to London and Paris. I studied abroad during college and lived in London for a bit.
My goal is to enjoy the little things in life such as baking, cooking, chocolate, video games, Doctor Who, BBC mini series, and watching movies.
